The short version: Version 3 gives venues more freedom over payments and gives teams better tools to manage orders, customer messages, reports and billing.

A bigger, more flexible Beat The Queue

Every venue works a little differently. Version 3 is about fitting Beat The Queue around the way you already run your business, instead of asking you to change everything. Here is what the update means in everyday terms.

Choose how you get paid

Beat The Queue now works with Stripe, Square and SumUp. You can choose the payment provider that suits your business and connect the right account or card reader to each location.

More choice

Keep the provider and hardware your team is comfortable with, rather than changing your setup to use Beat The Queue.

A complete payment journey

Connect your account, take online or card-reader payments, and handle cancellations and refunds from one joined-up workflow.

Square users can connect their account, use supported terminals, and bring across the locations, devices and product information they need. SumUp users can connect their account and readers, then take in-person orders and payments through the same service flow. Behind the scenes, Beat The Queue also keeps those connections working securely over time.

Let customers order now and Pay Later

Not every order needs to be paid for online straight away. With Pay Later enabled, customers can place an order first and pay at the venue - useful when you prefer to take payment at the till or card reader.

Your team can review and accept these orders, customers still receive helpful updates, and the orders are included in your reports. Each venue can decide whether to offer Pay Later.

Simpler, clearer venue billing

We have introduced secure Direct Debit billing through GoCardless. Venues can set up a payment mandate, and Beat The Queue can keep a clear record of charges and payments.

A new weekly billing service brings everything together: it works out the Beat The Queue fees due, creates and stores a PDF bill, emails it to the venue, and can collect the payment by Direct Debit where that option is enabled. That means fewer manual invoices and a much easier paper trail.

Better communication and clearer reports

Share the right message at the right time

New announcements can be shown to selected locations, during chosen dates, or when a particular action happens. Messages can have their own icon, be updated over time, and either stay visible or be dismissed.

Reports that reflect how you actually trade

Reports now recognise which payment provider handled each order and apply the appropriate fees. They also include Pay Later orders and show times in the venue’s local timezone.

Small changes that make a real difference

  • More preparation time: booking slots can include a minimum lead time, so customers cannot book before your team can realistically be ready.
  • More accurate deals: offers can use a clear expiry date, helping them start and finish when expected.
  • Better booking details: location and schedule information is more complete, making bookings easier to organise.
